Weight confessionals

I was once Obese.

I was once obese too for a long time, most of my teen-hood  When you live with obesity that long you don't think of thin until it happens. In the above article, the author confesses to the obscene diet. I too had followed such a crazy diet where a white chocolate mocha would do it for lunch, a chocolate chip waffle was gold. You can live on air too if fat is sliding off you like you are on a rotisserie.

This time around, I am trying a saner method of muscle way. I am puzzled with the numbers on the scale but I can feel the flab tightening, inches decreasing. The time not being too long is easy to fit into the schedule with baby. Never mind that she wants to think of me as a hurdle to crawl over while I am exercising. And did I feel sweat trickle on my back. Thats not me. I drink some water after exercise. Well thats not me either.

Stories read in childhood

If you catch something on the radio, right at the end you hang on to every word so you can search and find it later. I came in on this Jane Smiley interview on horses at the point where Jane talks about how by having an animals point of view, we become cognizant of other species in the world. What non human species comes to your mind first?
Black beauty. I remember parts of chapter 1 with Black Beauty's mother. When I had to share 3 best stories that I liked as a child with children in Singapore as part of a United Way program, I chose Black Beauty and Heidi.
My experience with a horse has been on a ride called 'Rani' in Nainital where she stood on a hill. I was too close to her and being at an angle, slid down with no hurt.
More stories for kids.
