At the doctors hospital, a little girl had magazines around her, in her lap. She even held one rightside up.
It was her parents turn to meet the doctor.
"Put them back".

And thats how kids pick words. Repeat what they hear and thus increase their vocabulary.

In dreams:
We stop as we reach the pavement.
"Do you know which direction to take for our house?" Right.
"What colour do you like?"
Why do kids like toys? Are they trying to play the adults roles by having a passive toy for a kid?
When little they like all things colourful. When do they form their preferences for the colours? They might like the colours of their favourite things like say icecream.

Inklings
Day before yesterday, you didnt show your usual activity in the afternoon after lunch. when I complained to your dad, he rubbed my belly and you moved.
Yesterday at the doctors, I felt a movement. So when the Dr was measuring your heartbeat, even she could feel your movement. The Dr said she could see some legs and body parts.
Now you are active in the afternoon, evening and night when I am reading.
Last night I dreamt that I held the belly and could feel your spine. Even better than that I saw you as a newborn. You were taller than my legs where I placed you on. You had thick eyebrows. Mom was there with me. You might get your uncle's features.
